MLB League Championship Series Update: Yankees vs. Astros

MLB League Championship Series Update: Yankees vs. Astros

Well, this series is on a knife-edge after the first two games. With the third game fast-approaching, we will bring you the news from the first two games and the predictions for the remaining five in the series.

This matchup is almost too close to call, and with those first games going each way, we had to dig deep to predict who will come out on top. The good news is that we managed it, so let’s get to the reviews and predictions right now.

Game 1 - Houston Astros 0-7 New York Yankees

This was a game to forget at Minute Maid Park for the Astros with the Yankees winning by a whitewash. The home team could not manage a single run and were humiliated by the travelling side. Gleyber Torres put in an unbelievable performance for the Yankees, picking up 5 of the 7 runs for his team.

The game had originally looked like

it could go either way, but the Yankees offense pressed on led by Torres , who put an end to any doubt over which way the match was headed. Tanaka was too much for the Texan team and delivered an incredible six shutout frames to put the Yankees in the driving seat. After a not so amazing regular season, Yankees fans will be overjoyed that their man is back to his best at the perfect time. Another highlight from this game was the epic homer smashed out of the park by Giancarlo Stanton. Truly a joy to behold.

Game 2 - Houston Astros 3-2 New York Yankees

The Astros came into this game needing to get something out of it after the crushing defeat in the first game of the series. They duly delivered at Minute Mai

d Park, and their home fans were more than a little relieved. If the Astros had lost this game, you could see no way back for them in the series. It took them five hours and eleven innings to claim the victory. The Yankees will see this as a missed chance to put themselves in the driving seat for the series. There was some controversy as umpire Cory Blaser appeared to incorrectly call Gary Sanchez out to end the 11th. Aaron Judge scored a fantastic 2 run homer in the fourth, which silenced the home crowd, but it was not enough. Runs from Springer, Bregman, and Carlos Correa were enough to secure the vital win for the Astros.

Game 3 - New York Yankees vs. Houston Astros

This game will take place on Tuesday, and it is shaping up to be critical to the outcome of the series. With the series tied at 1-1, whoever can take the win in this game puts themselves in the ultimate position to go on and win the series.

That prize of playing in the World Series awaits the series victor, and the Yankees will be a little disappointed not to start this game with a two-game lead after the last matchup in Houston.

Luis Severino will take his spot on the mound for the Yankees and will be looking for a positive performance in this game. Young gun Gerrit Cole is looking like the most likely player to take this spot for the Astros. The Yankees will be without slugger Giancarlo Stanton who is out with a calf strain, whilst the Astros have a full bill of health.

The key to this game will likely be down to the performance of Gerrit Cole. The Astros have a fantastic record this season when this man has been in the team. He has not been on the losing side since May and has a 28-7 record for the season when he’s on the field.

Prediction: Astros to win this game, making the series 2-1 to them

Game 4 - New York Yankees vs. Houston Astros

Wednesday’s game will see the Astros back in New York with a series lead of 2-1 if our predictions hold water. This game could be pushed back due to adverse weather, and if so, the Astros will have to change their game plan. Assuming the game goes ahead, the Astros will look to make it a bullpen day, according to infielder Aaron Boone.

This could backfire as the Yankees looked good in the series against the Twins. We think this will be the deciding factor in this match if all goes to plan. Only time will tell if that is the right call, but we are going with it.

Prediction: Yankees to win and tie the series back at 2-2

Game 5 - New York Yankees vs. Astros

Game 5 will take place at the Yankee Stadium once more and is quite a way out to make an accurate call on the winner. At this stage, we predict that the series will be tied at 2-2 with everything left to play for.

We had to go with our gut a little bit for the outcome of this one. Looking at the form of the players and who will likely be rested on each side, on top of what the bookies are saying and the previous games' form, we came to the following conclusion.

Prediction: Yankees to win this game making it 3-2

Game 6 - Houston Astros vs. New York Yankees

Saturday’s game sees us return to Houston, and there are quite a few variables at this stage to make an accurate prediction for the outcome. Looking at the first game at Minute Maid Park and the predictions made to get to this point, it seems like this will be the last game of the season for the Astros. The Yankees are overall the

stronger side and barring any serious injuries; we think this will be the last game. Prediction: Yankees win this game and the series 4-2

The Verdict

This series will have a few more twists and turns before it finishes. The teams are closely matched, and we could see a surprise or two. Our predictions suggest the Yankees will be victorious and are a pretty safe bet for the series win, alongside the projections we have made for each game.

What we know for sure is there will be some mouth-watering baseball to come this week in the MLB, so be sure to tune in and catch the action. Happy viewing MLB fans!
