What a weekend of Basketball we saw in the NBA this Saturday and Sunday. This week is shaping up to be another fantastic viewing experience for NBA fans from the East coast to the West, and Bet Today USA is once again on hand to deliver the latest news, odds and updates from every team in the division.
We will talk through all the most significant games from the weekend just gone and look ahead at what’s coming up this week. As always, we will focus on the results and how that impacts our predictions for the week ahead. Let’s get into those games right now.
LA Lakers 122-101 Atlanta Hawks
The Lakers took their season tally up to 11-2 with their fifth straight victory in the NBA this weekend. The Rockets are chasing hard behind them in the NBA Western, but another win here keeps the Lakers on top and in the driving seat. They started this one all guns blazing and were 12 points ahead of the Hawks after the first period. LeBron James was the star of the show once again, scoring 33 points and registering 12 assists.
As for the Hawks, it’s back to the drawing board after this destruction. It was always going to be a massive task to try and overcome the Lakers, however, upsets do happen in the NBA and this might just be a missed opportunity in many ways for the Hawks. The Lakers have looked off the pace at times this season, despite beating the majority of their opposition, and remain slightly hesitant favourites in the latest NBA betting tips.
Next up for the Lakers is a doubleheader against the Thunder, as they face each other back to back. Our money is on them winning both. The Hawks have it all to do when they play the Bucks, and glory for them is not on the cards.
Sacramento Kings 100-99 Boston Celtics
This result threw us all off track as we predicted the Celtics would cruise to another NBA win. The Kings had other ideas however and managed to edge this thrilling contest by just a single point. This was only their fifth success of the season after already losing seven, and it simply couldn’t have come a better time. Buddy Hield was their best player by far, pitching in with 35 points, and Bogdanović played his part too with ten assists for the Kings.
It’s not the end of the world when you consider this was the first taste of defeat for the Celtics since the opening game of the NBA season, but it still hurts their previously imperious lead in the NBA Eastern. It’s made worse by their rivals the Heat playing some fantastic basketball, and they are hot on the heels of Boston. They need to put this one behind them and get back to the form that has delivered ten wins already this season.
The Kings now play the Suns, and we can only see them winning that one. For the Celtics, it’s the same opposition a day earlier, and our money is on a successful outing for them.
Memphis Grizzlies 114-131 Denver Nuggets
Three NBA season wins came in the last four games for the Grizzlies, and expectations were higher than usual for this meeting. Unfortunately, it was back to losing for Memphis as they took a resounding beating from the Nuggets. Ultimately, a 5-8 record for the season never reads well, no matter what kind of spin you try to put on it and the side are clearly still reeling from the loss of Mike Conley Jr. to the Jazz in the summer. It’s clear they are still seeking a competent replacement, and they need one fast.
Alternatively, the Nuggets are flying high up in the NBA Western third spot after twelve games. Jamal Murray is leading the way for Denver and was on point once again with an impressive 39 points and 8 assists. The game was effectively over at the halfway point, with the Nuggets scoring an epic 44 points in the second period, which only left time for the Grizzlies to score 17 in reply.
The Grizzlies now play against the Warriors, which is a winnable match. For the Nuggets it’s two testing matchups in a row. We fancy them to win when they face the Rockets, who are the team immediately ahead of them in the standings. Then it’s the Celtics, which we will predict later this week so make sure you check in with Bet Today USA for that, and all the latest NBA predictions from across the country.
