The start of this week has been phenomenal with standards of Basketball on offer all across the NBA. As we look ahead to the next group of fixtures this season, it’s an excellent chance to take stock and see how those results impacted the standings.
Let’s take a look at how the teams toward the top of the NBA Eastern and Western position faired over the recent matches, and how that might affect the games coming up.
The Heat Is On
This was precisely the response needed from the Heat after that disappointing defeat to the Sixers. The Heat was turned up too high from the first period as they delivered their twelfth win of the NBA campaign when they faced the Hornets. It was a magnificent team performance with everyone scoring points, and they maintain the pressure on the Celtics above them.
Next up for the Heat is the Rockets, and we back them for a win in that game. The Hornets are now down in the eleventh spot in the NBA Eastern and have to try to turn things around. That makes the game against the Rockets all the more crucial. We are putting our money firmly behind them to win.
Celtics Bounce Back
This 103-102 victory came by the narrowest of margins, but the Celtics needed it after two disappointing losses. They almost let it slip in the third period but managed to keep it together and see out the game with a win. Jaylen Brown and Jayson Tatum both turned on the style in this one pitching in with 24 and 20 points each. The Kings will be devastated after coming so close to a massive victory.
The Celtics will come up against the Nets next time out, and there is no doubt they will win again there. The Kings will be looking to come back from this with their next appearance. The task ahead for them means overcoming the Sixers.
Utah Slip Again
This NBA season is going from bad to worse after a promising start for the Jazz in the NBA. It was always going to be a challenge for them as they faced the opposition leading in the NBA Eastern, but they fell short and allowed the Bucks to steal the victory. Milwaukee is now undefeated in eight games, a stretch that goes back to when they lost to the Jazz in early November.
They will play the Hawks next as they look to extend their unbeaten run to nine games, and we aren’t betting against them. For the Jazz, it’s a must-win game against the Pacers, and we predict an overdue return to winning ways.
Raptors on Point
The Raptors added their fourth win in a row as they overcame the Sixers by 101 points to 96. It takes them back up to the fourth spot in the NBA Eastern, and they are rolling like a team that means business. The 76ers need to pick themselves up and search for that early-season form, which is now reminiscent of a distant memory.
Another win is on the cards for the Raptors next time out as they face the hapless Knicks. The Sixer’s next challenge could go either way, and we are sitting on the fence. Check our predictions later this week to see if we back them defeating the Kings.
