Game Week 13 was full of fantastic matchups, and the results had a massive impact on who will make the NFL postseason. We saw some of the best teams play against each other and one of the teams who have been top of their division all season were knocked off their perch. Every team in the NFL has now lost at least two games in the regular season. Now let’s take a closer look at what happened with a view at what’s to come.

Baltimore Ravens 20-17 San Francisco 49ers

The Ravens passed the test in this game, and it was a thrilling affair from start to finish. It could have gone either way. Although Baltimore held a 3 point lead at half time, it was level pegging after the third period making for a nervy final quarter. The Ravens kept it together and got the three points they needed to win this high magnitude magnificent game. They are now 10-2 for the season and almost guaranteed to feature in the playoffs.

It’s a bitter disappointment for the 49ers after coming so close and maintaining such a fantastic record for the NFL regular season. This was only their second defeat, but it has cost them dearly, with the Seahawks overtaking them for the top spot in the NFC West. The Niners need to pick themselves up fast as they face the Saints next in another challenging fixture. Our money is on them taking their eleventh win of the season.

Houston Texans 28-22 New England Patriots

What a result this was for the Texans, and they have Deshaun Watson to thank for this impressive win. Before the game, the Patriots had lost once all season, but three touchdown passes from Houston’s main man put the contest beyond doubt. It was a thoroughly entertaining battle from start to finish, and the Texans deserved their reward. Next up they will face the Broncos, which should be another successful outing.

The Patriots will feature in the postseason, but this result shows they are beatable. New England is still one of the favorites to make it to the Super Bowl after the defeat, but it does give other teams hope they can do the same when it matters. Tom Brady did everything he could to avoid this slip-up, but in the end, his three passing touchdowns went to waste. The Patriots will play against the Chiefs next time, and we are backing them to win.

Seattle Seahawks 37-30 Minnesota Vikings

The Seahawks have been chasing the Niners in the NFC West, and this game has finally put them ahead of their target. Their form on the road has been spectacular with a record of 6-0, and this home win was their fifth in a row in the NFL regular season. They can now relax a little bit as the postseason is all but confirmed for them this year. There’s a challenge to come in Game Week 14 as they come up against the Rams, but we can see them passing that test.

For the Vikings, it was another case of trouble away from home, as they succumbed to their fourth defeat of the campaign. All those have come on their travels, and they need to find a way to plug the gap. The only other team to maintain a perfect record at home is the Patriots, so the Vikings need to find a method of delivering the same level on the road. We are behind them for the win next time against the Lions, and they still have the Packers to play in the division showdown.

Miami Dolphins 37-31 Philadelphia Eagles

The Dolphins recorded their third win of the season over the Eagles, and this outcome was not what we expected. Their season is already over, and pride is the one thing they still have to play for. Another win would see them move off the bottom spot in the AFC East, and realistically that’s the best season finish they can hope for at this stage. They face the Jets next in a game that could go either way.

The Eagles form has dropped off a cliff at the worst possible time, and the only consolation for them is that the Cowboys can’t win at the moment either. Even after seven regular-season defeats the top spot in the NFC East is still a realistic target, although they need the Cowboys to lose another game or two. It’s a big ask though, and it looks like we won’t be seeing the Eagles in the postseason. They could lose again next time when they are facing the Giants.

Looking Ahead

That’s it for the NFL Game Week 13 review, and now it’s time to look ahead at what’s coming next. We will be back with our NFL predictions for the games coming this weekend, so make sure you’re here to check that out. There are another three weekends of action to go, and then we can start to get excited about the playoffs. Who will make that final list?
