This was a weekend to sit back and enjoy as the twists and turns unfolded all over the NFL. It was full of surprises and season-defining moments. With six games to go in the NFL this term, everybody has now tasted defeat at least once. We have more on that, the other highlights, and a look ahead to what’s coming next weekend. Let’s get into the news and views right now.
San Francisco 49ers 24-27 Seattle Seahawks
The 49ers drew first blood by kicking a field goal to go 3-0 ahead with around 8 minutes left in the first quarter. It appeared like it could be their night in the early stages as DJ Cole followed up that field goal by a sack on Russell Wilson. Garrapolo was throwing well, but it wasn’t enough to get the result. The Seahawks were too good on the day, and the 49ers’ unbeaten record is in tatters.
The Seahawks didn’t get going until the second quarter of the game. They put in seven points and then thirteen more to put themselves in the driving seat. Although the performance dipped in that final quarter, it was enough to gain valuable ground in the standings on their opposition. Russell Wilson didn’t have the best time and needs to improve if he wants that MVP award.
The next game sees the 49ers face the Cardinals, and they look like returning to winning ways in that one. The Seahawks can’t let their performance dip as they look to get a result against the Eagles. That game could go either way.
Green Bay Packers 24-16 Carolina Panthers
After coming out of the first quarter level on points with the Panthers, Green Bay must have thought it was going to be another off-day, like the Chargers game. They managed to push on in the second and third quarters to put the game beyond Carolina and maintain their NFC North position with a season 8-2. Aaron Jones is the man who deserves the credit after scoring three rushing touchdowns to lead his side to victory.
The Panthers are now 5-4 for the season, and they are in severe need of wins if they want to get a wild card entry into the postseason. Kyle Allen didn’t have the worst game, but as a team, there were too many mistakes, and in the end, it cost them. One thing that is for sure, they need wins in their next few games to keep the fans’ hopes alive.
The Packers could be in trouble in the next game as they face the 49ers. As for the Panthers, they must take a win from the Falcons, and we are backing them.
Cincinnati Bengals 13-49 Baltimore Ravens
The Bengals NFL season was already over before this game started. Taking absolute punishment and moving to 0-9 is not what they had in mind. They were never expected to be one of the form teams this year, but at the same time, their complete lack of fight is no fun to watch. The Ravens have played and demolished much better opposition, and the Bengals didn’t stand a chance.
The Ravens marched on to another win, and they are now looking nailed on for the postseason action. The NFL AFC North shows them at the summit with a season record of 7-2. Lamar Jackson can take most of the credit with his three touchdowns. He added a rushing touchdown for good measure too, leaving his side in a perfect position after ten games.
The Bengals will seek their first NFL season success when they face the Raiders, but we are going nowhere near that one. The Ravens go head to head with the Texans, and we are backing them to win again.
Tennessee Titans 35-32 Kansas City Chiefs
The Titans got one over against all expectations in this matchup against the Chiefs. It takes them to 5-5, which is unlikely to get them into the playoffs, but is still a decent return when you look at the roster. Not having one of the massive budgets in the NFL can only get you so far, and causing a little pain to a better-funded team is always a buzz. They were a joy to watch in this one.
The Chiefs needed to not slip up in this game, but they did. They still lead the NFL AFC West, and if they can get enough wins in the following matchups, they should still progress. The Raiders are hot on their heels, so no more slip-ups are allowed. At least Patrick Mahomes was on form, and if that continues, they should be OK.
The fixtures list shows that the Titans have a winnable game next against the Jaguars. We are putting our money on the Chiefs bouncing back next time, too, as they play the Chargers.
