Game week 10 saw the 49ers lose their unbeaten record, and the Packers add a much-needed win to theirs. This weekend is even more critical as we approach the final games in the NFL regular season. Who can make the playoffs, and who is already going to have a long wait for competitive football? Only one way to find out, and that’s right here.
San Francisco 49ers vs. Arizona Cardinals
The 49ers come into this one after the heartbreak of losing their perfect record last time out against the Seahawks. That adds some pressure to this game as if they win, everything will be ok, but if they lose, it could be a rocky finish to the NFL regular season for them. The importance is compounded by the toughness of their Division, but they should be able to do enough if they can keep the wheels from falling off.
The Cardinals come into this one with zero hope of a postseason to look forward to. They are rock bottom of the NFL NFC West, and that does not look like changing with this game. The only thing they can now gain from this NFL season is spoiling the party for other teams. This could well be a game where they have the opportunity to do that.
Philadelphia Eagles vs. New England Patriots
This one is the clash of the round, between the Eagles and the Patriots, with a win needed for both teams. It’s been a fantastic season for the Eagles so far, and they would have taken a record of 5-4 before the season started. They need to add another few wins to that tally if they want to progress, and this game is one in which they will have to cause an upset. Last time they played, they won against the Bears, so more of the same would be ideal.
The Patriots need no introduction, and after defeat for the 49ers last weekend, they are now matched as the top-performing team in the NFL. They have come back off a bye week, and that break should give them some much-needed freshness across their roster. That defeat to the Ravens that cost them their hitherto perfect record seems a long time ago now. The question is whether they can put it behind them here.
LA Chargers vs. Kansas City Chiefs
Both teams need something from this one, but it is more pressing for the Chargers than their opposition. They are now 4-6 for the season, and it looks like defeat in this one would effectively terminate their season. It looked promising after they despatched the Packers, but last weekend they succumbed to another costly defeat at the hands of the Raiders. The big question is which Chargers side will turn up this Sunday?
The Chiefs also lost ground last time out in a shock defeat to the Titans. A season record of 6-4 is a reasonable return, and you would be hard pushed to back against them making it to the postseason. Nothing short of a win in this matchup will do, and the pressure is on. This game is one we are all looking forward to watching.
Detroit Lions vs. Dallas Cowboys
The Lions are another team that can say goodbye to any slim hopes of postseason glory in the NFL this season. Sitting at 3-5-1 with six games to go, it would be an almost impossible ask for this side, and we can’t see them overcoming the high-flying Cowboys here. Stranger things have and do happen in the NFL. We will have to wait and see if there’s an upset here.
The Cowboys lead the NFL NFC East at this stage, but it is more down to the lack of quality in that group. Dallas needs to bounce back after losing to the Vikings in less than impressive fashion. Following up with a game against the Lions is what they would have hoped for, but it does add that little bit of pressure, not to mess it up.
The Verdict
Game Week 11 will have a massive impact on what happens at the end of the regular NFL season. Can the bigger teams keep it together, or will one of the chasing pack step up their form and book their place? We will be watching and will bring all the reviews to you next week.
