Goaltender Connor Ingram was unable to see out the entire game in Wednesday’s 3-1 loss to the Minnesota Wild and is unable to feature against the Carolina Hurricanes on Friday at Mullett Arena, Tempe (9:00 p.m. ET).
He made 28 saves over the opening two periods before being replaced by Karel Vejmelka, and will be out for the next week or so, according to coach André Tourigny.
Centre Travis Boyd (pectoral) is out for the rest of the campaign, whilst Troy Stecher (lower body) is still missing. Power forward Liam O’Brien (upper body) is considered day-to-day after being absent for the game against the Wild.
The Coyotes are currently on a seven-game losing skid and have scored more than three goals just once over that period.
Dallas Stars
Evgenii Dadonov will remain out for the Dallas Stars’ clash with the Edmonton Oilers at American Airlines Center, Dallas on Saturday (3:00 p.m. ET).
The Stars have won seven of their last eight games and lead the Central Division. Goalie Jake Oettinger has been in top form since the All-Star break to begin February. He allowed two goals from 22 shots in a dominant 9-2 win on the road to the Nashville Predators on Thursday.
Defenseman Nils Lundkvist (upper body) is questionable for Saturday’s game after leaving early against the Predators. He has two goals and 13 assists in 43 games for Dallas.
New York Islanders
Winger Hudson Fasching has returned to practice ahead of the New York Islanders’ outdoor meeting with rivals the New York Rangers on Sunday (3:00 p.m. ET). However, he still remains questionable to play, and hasn’t featured since the end of January in a 4-3 loss to the Montreal Canadiens.
Defenseman Robert Bortuzzo was placed on injury reserve at the start of February due to a lower-body injury.
Leading points scorer Mathew Barzal (15G, 41A) has been missing from the Islanders’ practice at MetLife Stadium this week. Nevertheless, he is expected to play against the Rangers for the 2024 Navy Federal Credit Union NHL Stadium Series.
The Islanders-Rangers rivalry last played in December, 2022, so it’s been some time since the two teams faced off. The Islanders are looking to improve upon fifth-place in the Metropolitan Division standings.
Carolina Hurricanes
Antti Raanta will be out for the next couple of weeks due to a lower-body injury. The goalie was unable to come back out for the third period against the Colorado Avalanche last Thursday.
Pyotr Kochetkov and Spencer Martin are set to play for the time being. The former has a .902 save percentage over 27 games this season.
Fellow netminder Frederik Andersen is still recovering from a blood clotting issue, but has returned to on-ice practice. It is not known yet when he will be able to play for the Hurricanes, and he last featured back in November.
The Canes will play in the second matchup of a three-game road trip on Friday against the Arizona Coyotes at Mullett Arena. They’ll be looking to bounce back from a 4-2 loss against the Dallas Stars on Tuesday.
Boston Bruins
Centre Matthew Poitras will still be absent for the Boston Bruins’ game against the Los Angeles Kings on Saturday (12:30 p.m. ET) at TD Garden, Boston.
The rookie underwent shoulder surgery last Wednesday, and hasn’t played since January 25 in a 3-2 overtime win against the Ottawa Senators. He was enjoying a solid maiden campaign in the NHL with a total of 15 points in 33 games (5G, 10A).
The Bruins will be hoping to snap a three-game losing streak this weekend. However, they still remain in second spot in the Atlantic Division, level on points with the Florida Panthers.
Edmonton Oilers
The Edmonton Oilers aren’t expected to have any injury issues ahead of their road game against the Dallas Stars on Saturday at American Airlines Center (3:00 p.m. ET).
After going on a 16-game winning streak for just over a month between December and January, the Oilers have lost three of their last five matchups. That includes a 6-3 loss against the St. Louis Blues on Thursday.
Penalties have been an issue for Edmonton of late and they have given up five power-play goals over their last three games. Leading points scorer Connor McDavid (21G, 59A) was on the ice for just 18:47 against the Blues.
Los Angeles Kings
There have been a couple of roster moves for the Los Angeles Kings of late with forwards Carl Grundstrom and Blake Lizotte both being placed on long-term injured reserve (LTIR) due to lower-body injuries.
Lizotte had been skating individually after picking up the injury last month, but will now be out indefinitely. However, Viktor Arvidsson was able to return from LTIR for the Kings’ 2-1 win on the road against the New Jersey Devils on Thursday.
The return of Arvidsson will be a nice boost following his 59-point season for LA last season. He is set for another outing when the Kings visit the Bruins at TD Garden, Boston on Saturday.
New York Rangers
The Rangers are just one point behind the sliding Bruins in the Eastern Conference standings. They’ll be looking to close the gap with a rivalry matchup against the Islanders at MetLife Stadium on Sunday (3:00 p.m. ET).
Winger Blake Wheeler is day-to-day after leaving Thursday’s 7-4 win over the Canadiens with a right-leg injury. The veteran has recorded nine goals and 12 assists in 54 games for the Rangers this season.
Peter Laviolette’s team extended their winning streak to six games following their victory over Montreal. The Rangers are 5-0-0 across February and have 35 wins on the season (second most in NHL).
