MLS 2020 Best Looking Kits: Eastern Conference

We're under two weeks away from the kick off of the 2020 MLS season, and this year promises to be the very best in the competition's history. High profile players have come in, some pretty heavy hitters have switched allegiances, and the excitement has been turned up another notch with the latest batch of the new Forward25 EQT jerseys.

We've once again picked out our top five best looking kits, this time from the league's Eastern teams, and ranked them down below.

5. Montreal Impact (Away)

The Impact secured one of the biggest headline-setting hauls of the entire offseason with the capture of legendary figure Thierry Henry as their manager, and they come into this year's MLS with one of the coolest kits on show.

The strip is tailored with light and dark contrasts, with the black of the EQT stripes and the Adidas logo standing out nicely against the grey of the Impact logo and the white of the shoulders and chest base. The immortal slogan of the club: 'Passion - Fierté - Authenticité' has also been etched into the inside collar of the shirt, acting as a great rallying cry for the team.

4. Orlando City (Away)

The Sunshine State have once again brought the sol to the MLS with another firecracker of a kit. The club's 'Heart and Sol' away strip features a large purple sun fading outwards from the Orlando City badge, layering a nice tinge over a white base. The gold lines along the inside of the kit will couple nicely alongside the deep purple EQT stripes and make for one of the cleanest looking kits in the league.

Orlando's run of no wins in their final eight games last campaign meant that they finished the season in disappointing circumstances, dropping down to 11th in the Eastern Conference and 22nd overall. 3. D.C. United (Home)

D.C. United have the honour of boasting one of the most beloved and instantly recognisable classic kits of all time, with their 1996 kit being paid homage to with this season's home strip. The traditional black of D.C. has been coupled with some striking white EQT stripes along the shoulder, as well as red sleeves and the founding mark reserved only for sides that have been with Major League Soccer for all of its duration.

D.C. made it all the way to the postseason last campaign with a 13-11-10 record, coming up against eventual MLS Cup Runners Up, Toronto FC. The two sides were locked together at 1-1 by the end of ninety minutes, however D.C. collapsed in extra time and bowed out with a 5-1 loss. 2. New England Revolution (Home)

Another one of Major League Soccer's founding fathers, the Revs are back this season with one of the most adventurous EQT designs of the year. The white Adidas stripes once again look great alongside the Revs' traditional deep blue base, but the kit is really taken up another level with the league's 25 founding mark and the paintbrush-style white across the middle.

A possible dark horse for this season, New England recovered from a disastrous start to their 2019 campaign with the hiring of Bruce Arena. A great 7-0-4 record across May and August secured a play in the postseason, with only a narrow 1-0 road loss to Atlanta sealing an end to the side's MLS Cup dreams. 1.New York City FC (Away)

We're not going to lie here, a big reason why this kit tops our list is the fact that New York have decided to call this road strip 'The Gotham Kit'. Inspired by the vibrance of their home city and its impressive architecture, The Gotham Kit features two alternate shades of dark blue on the shoulders and chest, bringing out the EQT stripes up top, and a nice layered, slightly worn-looking, patched effect.

NYCFC were easily the Eastern Conference top dogs last campaign, recovering from no wins in their opening 6 matches to going on to racking up 64 points, the highest tally of anyone in the division and only behind LAFC in the hunt for the Supporters Shield.
