MLS 2020 Picks: 3 Games To Watch Out For - Matchday 2

The Action Continues

MLS 25 kicked off last week, with every side up and down the country fighting it out for a fast start. Minnesota (

+1600

) raced out to the top of the table with an impressive 1-3 win against the Timbers on the road and play San Jose

(+3300)

this weekend in the hunt for back to back wins, something they only achieved four times across the entirety of MLS 2019.

It was a slightly tamer weekend for some of the league's bigger sides however, with Galaxy

(+1600)

being held by Houston

(+2900)

, Atlanta

(+750)

and LA

(+300)

only managing to scrape one goal wins, and the Sounders

(+700)

only winning with a last gasp winner by Jordan Morris. Here's our latest MLS picks for matchday 2 across the league.

LAFC vs. Philadelphia Union - Vela Looking To Impress

2019 Supporters Shield winners LAFC kicked off their new season with a home win against David Beckham's Inter Miami

(+3400)

, though the Black and Gold were worked hard for large spells and it was only a Carlos Vela golazo that split the two sides up by the end. Philadelphia were tipped during this year's offseason as possible dark horses for a shot at the MLS Cup, however their campaign began in disappointing fashion on the road against Dallas.

With this being their second of three successive home games to open the season, LAFC should be looking to rack up the points and recapture the form they showed throughout last season. In what was ultimately a disappointing result for the Union, 19 year old Brendan Aaronson looked to be a real creative gem and could be the player to watch for Philadelphia.

Our prediction

Back Vela for more goals here. LAFC to win this one by two goals or more

Atlanta United vs. Cincinnati - No Martinez No Party?

Frank De Boer's United side were able to get the win over MLS debutants Nashville

(+15000)

last weekend, however all the talk was around star striker Josef Martinez who tore an ACL during the game. The Colombian forward has hit over sixty goals in his past two seasons, and will undoubtedly be a huge miss for the Five Stripes.

Whilst Atlanta are going to be on the hunt for a new no.9, Cincinnati

(+5000)

have no such worries with their star signing Jurgen Locadia bagging a goal on his debut against the Red Bulls last weekend. Though the Orange and Blue were made to pay for some dodgy defence, falling to a 3-2 loss, the sight of their potential talisman finding the net will be more than welcome for the side's fans.

Our prediction

The Five Stripes are seriously going to struggle in front of goal without Martinez. We think they'll end up with a tie here

Toronto vs. NYCFC - Who Will Bounce Back To Form?

Last year's MLS Cup runners up, Toronto had a disappointing opening to their 2020 campaign by dropping a two goal lead against the Earthquakes. The Reds fans will have been pleased to see Alejandro Pozeulo return to the MLS with a goal however, with the former Swansea player showing off exactly why he's such a key cog in the Toronto lineup.

New York City were last season's Eastern Conference champions by some distance, however they shocked our MLS Predictions last weekend by falling to a 1-0 road loss to the Crew

(+4000)

. The loss of Ebenezer Ofori in the midfield looked to be a real startling factor for the Cityzens, and adding some steeliness in the centre of the park is going to be key to NYCFC returning to winning ways here.

Our prediction

We could easily see a tie in this one, however we'll just about give the edge to Toronto
