Toronto vs. New York City FC - July 26, 8:30PM EDT
2019 MLS Cup runners up Toronto might have been a pre-tournament favorite, but they have so far struggled to really flex themselves during their time in Orlando, drawing two of their first three games so far. They are amongst the tournament's top scorers however, with Ayo Akinola scoring five of their six goals so far this campaign.
Current MLS Eastern Conference champions NYCFC have struggled throughout 2020, and have so far taken these struggles with them to Orlando. They were beaten by Orlando and Philadelphia in the groups and are only through this far due to a 1-0 win over expansion side Inter Miami.
Sporting Kansas City vs. Vancouver Whitecaps - July 26, 11:00PM EDT
Both sides who probably weren't expecting to be here, Sporting Kansas really outdone themselves with a couple of gutsy wins against Real Salt Lake and Minnesota United, two teams tipped to wipe the floor with them in our MLS predictions. Kansas had five different goalscorers responsible for their six goals during the group stage, showcasing the threat they carry going forward.
The Whitecaps looked dead and buried heading into matchday 3 of Group B. Qualifying for this match as the tournament's third best third placed team, their entire campaign essentially revolved around the surprising 0-2 win over Chicago Fire that we certainly didn't see coming.
San Jose Earthquakes vs. Real Salt Lake - July 27, 8:30PM EDT
Topping a group containing Seattle, Vancouver and Chicago, San Jose are on track to becoming one of the quiet darkhorses of the tournament. They come into the round of sixteen on the back of back-to-back wins against the Whitecaps and Chicago and are actually one of the few sides still unbeaten over the course of their time in Orlando, having held Seattle's fearsome attack to a 0-0 tie.
Real Salt Lake are one of the most stylish sides in Major League soccer, and have made their way into the round of sixteen on the back of being the best third placed team in the tournament. Things looked promising for Real, taking four points against Colorado and Minnesota before jolting with an upset loss against Sporting Kansas. They'll be hoping that loss was just a blip.
Seattle Sounders vs. LAFC - July 27, 11:00PM EDT
This is easily the MLS is Back Tournament's most star-studded fixture so far, and could be hard to pin down in our MLS betting tips. The Sounders have been far from vintage during the course of the tournament, finishing behind the Earthquakes in Group B after a 2-1 loss to Chicago Fire. Their 3-0 win over Vancouver, with all three of their legendary frontline finding the net, was a powerful reminder of the damage they still can do however.
The tournament favourites in all the MLS betting odds, LAFC have once again been lethal in front of goal with a competition best 11 goals scored so far, despite missing Carlos Vela during their time in Florida. They have been noticeably leaky in defence however, conceding seven times in three games, and did lose to the Sounders in the MLS Cup Western Conference final last year.
