New York-based sports betting giant FanDuel has signed a multi-year deal to become the official sportsbook of Major League Baseball.
The deal will allow FanDuel to offer live streaming of certain MLB games via its mobile app, website and TV network.
FanDuel, which is the market leader in New York’s burgeoning legal sports betting industry, will show MLB.TV's Free Game of the Day, allowing customers to watch and bet in one place.
BetMGM is currently the only major sportsbook that offers MLB streaming, so this is a powerful new feature for FanDuel ahead of the upcoming baseball season.
It will have the right to use official MLB branding on its various platforms and in its marketing campaigns.
FanDuel has worked with Major League Baseball as an authorized gaming operator of the league since 2019, but this is a far more comprehensive agreement.
“As one of the top sportsbooks in America, FanDuel has been an industry leader in innovative fan engagement opportunities while also reminding them of the importance of doing it responsibly,” said Kenny Gersh, MLB executive vice president. “These key priorities of unique fan engagement and responsible gambling align with our focus from the league level and make FanDuel a natural partner to collaborate with as an official sports betting partner.”
FanDuel president Christian Genetski added: “The baseball fan is one of the most engaged in all of sports.
“Our team is eager to showcase FanDuel in nationally broadcast MLB games and help enhance game narratives and bring America's Pastime directly into our mobile app and OTT platform for fans to watch and wager."
