The Michigan Gaming Control Board has launched a multimedia campaign called Don’t Regret the Bet to encourage residents to gamble responsibly.
Online sportsbooks, casinos and poker rooms are all legal in the Great Lakes State, giving Michiganders lots of opportunities to wager.
The campaign, developed in partnership with Lansing-based King Media, is designed to foster a culture of responsible betting.
It spans broadcast TV and radio advertising, point-of-sale video ads at gas stations, digital billboards, social media and digital media, including streaming services and podcast audio, with commercials running during professional and college sports broadcasts.
“March is Problem Gambling Awareness Month, making it the perfect time to launch the MGCB’s educational campaign,” said Henry Williams, Michigan Gaming Control Board executive director. “The yearlong campaign is a crucial step in our ongoing efforts to reach the public with information, tips and tactics promoting responsible gaming.”
It has also launched an educational website – DontRegretTheBet.org – which provides tips to help keep gambling fun, along with problem gambling resources.
There is a self-assessment form on the site, along with information about signs of problem gambling, plus links to to the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services, Gamblers’ Anonymous, Gam-Anon and other resources.
“Don’t Regret the Bet is a campaign that will have a positive impact on individuals and communities across Michigan, and that aligns perfectly with our focus on meaningful work,” said Coleen King, president and founder of King Media.
